NRXN1 Stories
Individuals with NRXN1 Disorder come from all over the world and from all walks of life. No two individuals are affected in exactly the same way. Some of us are parents who were only diagnosed after we identified the deletion in our children. These are a few of our unique stories.

C.W.
C.W. is empathetic, kind, and loves animals and nature. He wants to be a zookeeper when he grows up. He also has an amazing memory! We’re astounded by his ability to remember obscure facts and football scores. We’re so proud of everything C.W. has accomplished.

Leland
We are just going to take it day by day and be happy with the information we do know while participating in research to help more people understand in the future. He is amazing despite everything that has happened in almost 7 years of life. His favorite holiday of the year is Valentine's Day because he can "spread his love to everyone". He always has the best hugs and cuddles waiting for anyone who needs them, and that's what everyone in life needs.

Braelyn
Despite her ongoing issues, she displayed a fighting spirit and a joyful personality. She achieved major milestones, such as learning sign language, feeding herself, talking, and walking. Braelyn was a loving child and, to us, she was our Superhero! She embodied joy, determination, and a no-quit attitude.

Amber, Adisyn, and Ashton
Due to our family history, my mother and one of my brothers (who also has a diagnosis of autism) decided to get tested and they were both found to be positive for the deletion. We have since sent word out to other extended family members recommending testing; I believe we have others who are positive and have yet to be tested. We have 5 boys in our close extended family with a diagnosis of autism. My diagnosis has actually been a healing experience for me, because I had learning differences growing up that could not be explained.

Lou
She is a kind, very loving and affectionate young lady who has no malice within her at all. She enjoys playing her flute, swimming and Jacuzzis, walking, her computer, meals out and the pub. She is for the most part now calm, loving and happy. We can’t ask for any more and are so grateful for this. It was hard fought for and we work together to maintain it, but we do this using strategies which work for her and which we are constantly tweaking where needed.

B.
His personality is full of life, he is very affectionate, loves to play with other kids and adores his siblings. As well as being full of cheek with a great sense of humour, he brings so much joy to our lives and has taught us so much.
